-------
Demelza are an alternative-rock band fresh onto the Birmingham scene this year. Formed in Selly Oak just a matter of months ago, they’ve already turned heads on the local music scene with a storming set to a sold out Sunflower Lounge for Discover Birmingham. They infuse elements of jazz and funk into their sound to complement the assured and powerful vocals of lead singer Cherry Halfyard, and with two guitarists, Samuel Gale and Fred Davies, they can produce a huge diversity of sounds that take inspiration from guitarists such as John Frusciante and Johnny Marr amongst others. The band is rounded off by Tom Stockwell on drums and Sven Lam on the bass, who together form a firm base for the band’s sound to stand upon. The mix of heartfelt lyrics, high tempo guitar riffs and anthemic choruses will be sure to take you from crying to dancing your socks off within the same set.

-------
Tradin' Fives is a Birmingham based quintet playing a range of music from standards with a slight twist to modern jazz to folk-influenced music!

Harry Brown – Alto Sax/Ewi
Sam Freshwater – Tenor/Soprano Sax
Vato Klemara – Piano/Keys
Conal Hughes – Bass
Peter Batchelar – Drums.

Olly Powell is a Singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from the UK. Blending smooth R&B/Soul vocals, Hip Hop inspired beats and expressive guitar work. Learning to play guitar from an early age opened up a world of Rock and Blues which formed his love for the music of Eric Clapton. Discovering John Mayer in his late teens, and D’angelo in his early twenties, he set out on a one man mission to write, record, perform and produced his own work.

Further obsessions into J Dilla, Erykah Badu, Prince, and John Martyn opened up a new world of sonics and textures. Olly took inspiration from Prince to perform all the vocals and instruments whilst taking care of the recording and producing of all his work. His debut single “Freedom” is a groove heavy, guitar lead track with rich vocal harmonies.
